How do you make a plaster strip mask?


Dip the strips of plaster bandages into water to wet fairly thoroughly; begin putting the strips on the child’s face, starting with areas that do not cover eyes, nostrils and mouth. Overlap and smooth plaster as you work. The child can decide if they want their eyes, nostrils and mouth covered as this is optional.

Our plaster-based Plaster of Paris bandages have a number of uses. They are all skin safe so that they can be used against the skin with no discomfort or ill effects. Plaster bandages can be used by themselves to make rough body part molds as the capture form, but not detail.



How much plaster do I need for a face mask?


Calculations. A typical face mold is a round bowl approximately 12 inches in diameter or about 115 square inches. Doing the math shows us that a face can be done with about 1 roll of 3 inch bandages. We include 1.5 rolls in our Face Casting Kit to be on the safe side.



How long do plaster strips take to dry?


After the plaster bandages have been completely applied, it is necessary to let the bandages cure solid. This will usually take about 7 – 10 minutes.
